My Dream 2017

This year I decided to create my ‘Dream 2017’ and write everything down to keep myself accountable, with the aim of ticking stuff off the list as I go. Here’s a picture of what my dream 2017 looks like:

Launch a new website

I’m going to cross this one off the list fairly soon! With plans for a new site to launch around the end of this month, this one is already well on underway. In terms of content things won’t change too much, but the site look and feel will be refreshed making it easier to navigate the website and break up the categories. Can’t wait to show you guys the new site at the end of January! There will also be a competition to go along with this, stay tuned!

Launch video content

Yikes, I’ve always wanted to launch video and have dipped my toes in with Snapchat. It’s just about biting the bullet and learning all about video production / editing. If anyone has advice on the best software to use, or tips or tricks for creating videos I’d love to hear from you!

Travel

Although travel isn’t too high on the agenda for 2017 whilst I try to further cement my blog as a small business, I still hope for a few trips here and there. I’m planning a trip to Italy with my parents in April, so that’s one to tick off the list! I’d also love to go back to NYC, but let’s see what the year brings. Here’s a list of dream destinations on my list:

Abroad

  • Los Angeles
  • New York City
  • San Francisco
  • Cuba
  • Vancouver
  • Ibiza
  • Portugal
  • Hawaii
  • NZ – Wellington and Queenstown

Local

  • Perth and Rottnest Island
  • Hyams Beach (south coast NSW, Australia)
  • Tasmania

Work with new brands

This year is about finding those brands to work with that I absolutely adore and are a 100% fit with the blog’s vision. I want to be true to the Leather and Lattes brand and carefully consider each partnership. Some brands I’d love to work with: Matches Fashion, David Jones, Ganni, Netaporter, FSHN BNKR, Current Elliott, Boohoo, H&M, Forever New, Portmans, Country Road, Gucci (ultimate goals!).

Venture into new content areas

I want to focus on content areas where I can add value for you guys. Having built up a career across digital media, fashion, and advertising for the last ten years, and also setting up my blog as a small business, there’s knowledge I can definitely share. 2017 will be about putting thoughts down into blog posts! Think content around how to set-up your blog as a small business, nailing a job interview, or how to create a divine flatlay… there’s loads more topics I plan to cover this year!

Build up my website views

A big focus in 2017 will be building up website views on the blog. I’m aiming to do this through regular content and themes, bring back ongoing series like ‘Out for Coffee with…’, and making some new ones (I’ve got some ideas up my sleeve like Monday Must Haves and Leather Lovin’), along with competitions and giveaways. How-tos will also feature heavily across fashion, career, blogging and Instagram. Let me know if there’s anything else you’d like to see that is currently missing from the site!

Take My Blog Full-time

As you guys know, this has been a dream for some time and I’ve not taken the plunge. I can’t say much on this except that I just need to bite the bullet! Having worked in various corporate roles, and building a career in advertising & media for over 10 years, the thought of being a freelancer is quite daunting. That said, once you open yourself  up to full-time blogging I’m sure the opportunities flow. My day job as an Editor (which I love) keeps me busy and blogging after hours is definitely challenging, but 2017 could be the year I make the jump!
