1. Embrace You.

Embrace who you are and everything that’s unique to you! As you get older you’ll naturally learn more about yourself through what you do and don’t like, relationships and experiences. Confident people feel happy in their own skin. It’s important to embrace you – everyone else is already taken!

2. Speak Your Mind.

Speaking your mind is a big part of becoming more confident and putting yourself out there, no matter what others think. When I first stared working in advertising I was scared to speak up in meetings and put forward my thoughts. It’s scary and daunting to think that other will judge you if you ask a stupid question or sound like don’t know what you’re talking about. I really wanted to overcome this, so I started speaking up in meetings anyway. The more I did this the more confident I became and this massively helped me along in my career. There is no point hiding your opinions or personality – it won’t make you feel confident or happy!

3. Dress Well.

Like the old saying goes ‘If you look good you’ll feel good’. That doesn’t mean you have to spend a fortune or buy expensive clothes, it just means you  can put effort into your appearance by treating yourself on the odd occasion. Find some classic pieces on the high street, and get to know what suits your body type. I am a big fan of the high street stores like H&M, Zara, Forever New for a quick wardrobe refresh that won’t break the bank.

4. Keep Yourself Well Groomed

I think girls mostly love doing this anyway! Keeping your nails tidy, splashing on some fake tan or getting a hair cut always makes me feel a million bucks. If you can’t afford to get it done professionally, do it yourself. Taking care of yourself is important to feeling your best and most confident.

5. Know Your Strengths & Weaknesses.

This ties in to number 1. It’s important to know who you are – everyone has strengths and weaknesses, and the weaknesses are nothing to be ashamed of. Working to improve your weaknesses will actually make you feel more confident… not many people can come to terms this can make you feel very strong. For example, documentation at work is not my strong point.

6. Stand Up Straight.

I recently read somewhere that standing up straight can instantly make you feel more confident. I’ve been trying to rest this out – I often slouch and I have to actively think about my posture.

7. Listen to Music.

The power of music! Do you ever feel great when you’re listening to an awesome song that makes you feel on top of the world? Music is the remedy for most .

8. Travel On Your Own.

Travel feeds the soul, and it never gets boring discovering somewhere new! Travelling on your own builds your confidence by forcing you out of your comfort zone and forcing you to make your own way in a new country or city.

9. Take Deep Breaths.

I know it sounds silly but there’s a lot to be said about taking deep breaths. In recent years I’ve become super scared of flying, and on my last flight I got my self through it by taking deeps breaths and trying to overcome the fear. Before this, I really didn’t think the deep breathing thing worked at all – now I’m on board.

10. Exercise More.

Exercise makes you feel great, and in turn more confident. I know I always feel amazing when I come out of the gym or come home from a workout! Energy highs are a great confidence booster and not comparable to many o

11. Talk to Someone New.

Talk to as many people as possible! Talking to someone new is Try to find a common ground and put yourself out there to talk to someone new. You never know, you could learn about something new, or make an unexpected friend or business connection.

12. Find A Mentor.

A mentor is a great way to help you along the journey of life. I had a mentor at age 22 in London. I felt like this really helped me move forward in the career department. She empowered me to believe I could, and sometimes all you need is a push!
