7 Worthwhile Purchases for Autumn

1. Sharp Blazer

A decent blazer will last you years to come and literally go with anything and everything. I bought my classic black Camilla & Marc blazer a few year back, and still wear it A LOT. Whether it’s paired with jeans and a blouse for a meeting, over a dress for a fashion event, or with a tee on the weekend it never fails to look on point. This season I’m trying out white!

2. Flattering Jeans

You can’t go past a great pair of jeans to flatter your legs and butt and give you shape. Consider them the building block of your entire wardrobe. Denim has come a long way with lots of new styles – the step hem, straight leg, mum jeans or cropped flares.

Lately I’m loving classic pairs from Gap like the ‘True Skinny Ankle Jean’ and also H&M for their inexpensive cropped styles.

3. Chic Coat

The perfect coat isn’t hard to find but there’s a few things to consider. Colour, length, fit, material etc. Find something that works for your body shape and skin tone.

Personally this year I’m planning to branch out to navy & khaki as well as my usual staple, camel. Military styles are having a resurgence; think structured coats in navy and black with gold button detailing and touches of red.

4. Edgy Leather Jacket

Don’t get me started on a decent leather jacket! If you haven’t added this staple to your wardrobe, now is the time. Leather is back in a big way as seen on the catwalk and high street. Zara is a one stop shop for great leather jackets.

5. Quality Ankle Boots

When it comes to boots I find it’s best to go for quality over affordability. Good quality ankle boots will get you through a few seasons at least without becoming too tarnished. Some of my favourite shops for shoes are Wittner, Jo Mercer and Topshop.

6. Knit Dress

A beautiful dress to take you through autumn winter is a must. Especially if you’re attending an upcoming autumn racing event or wedding. If you purchase something simple and elegant, you’ll definitely be able to wear it multiple times with new styling and accessories. Finders Keepers, Country Road and Target have some real gems.

7. It Bag

The change of season is a great excuse to treat yourself to a new handbag. Not long ago I invested in my first designer handbag (this small Gucci you may have seen on my Instagram), and it’s been such a worthwhile purchase. I don’t think I’ll ever love a bag as much as this one! If you invest in a classic handbag you truly love you’ll wear it for years to come. Look for classic designs from the likes of Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton and Gucci.
